Why bring a Bike Park to Fort Collins?

COMMUNITY
Fort Collins is a bike city. In fact, according to the League of American Bicyclists, we have been designated a Platinum-rated Bicycle Friendly Community. Our love for all things "bike" runs wide and deep and is for everyone to take part in.

We have endless organizations supporting our amazing bike culture...from the many nonprofits: serving schools, rapidly growing recreational youth programs, providing bikes to those in need, building trails, and more! ...to many unique clubs and cycling teams that cater to bike lovers of all types!

There are approximately 35,000 residents within Larimer County who mountain bike, with the vast majority residing in Fort Collins. Not to mention the vast number of youth who bike, the thousands who BMX, ride road, cyclocross or those who just enjoy riding around town!

Fort Collins is also home to the most bike friendly businesses (BFB) in the country and even one of the largest bike festivals in world!

With the City's goal to achieve 50% active mode share by 2032 (i.e. community members making trips by bikes and other active modes), we need to continue to grow and further support our love for riding bikes of all kinds.
If there is one community who comes together around bikes and would cherish a bike park, it is Fort Collins.

INCLUSIVITY
Bike parks are inclusive. All ages, genders, and ability levels can have fun at within a community space. Bike parks can even be designed for adaptive riders with mobility limitations.
GROWTH
Bike parks not only promote healthy lifestyles, they are a fantastic way for children to grow their confidence, self-esteem, and work ethic. Not every kid was meant for organized team sports. Biking is an alternative that any child can get involved, discover themselves and grow mentally, emotionally and physically.
